For our Solve It unit we solved different equation it was pretty self explanatory. I chose to post my unit write up because it was the thing I was most proud of this unit.
Solve It
Lyric Kent
This unit was all about solving equations. We were taught the distributive property, how to solve proportions, and how to solve equations. We were always solving for a certain variable in the equation or sometimes multiple variables. The equations that we solved almost always included algebra and it was obvious that it was what we were focusing on and getting more practice with it. We started out by learning about the distributive property so that we could easily solve some equations instead of going through a ton of steps. I don’t quite get how solving proportions works in the real world, I can’t come up with scenario unless I have help. I think that I need a little more practice with this.
Personal Experience
I think that I need more practice on this because I get it but it takes me way longer than everyone else to solve a problem like this. The content in this unit didn’t really interest me or apply to me. The sea creatures worksheet was pretty fun and that was one of the only things that made sense to me this unit. The work that we did this unit didn’t really make sense to me and I think that we need to go over this stuff again because it just hasn’t stuck with me. I get how to do proportions pretty well but I can’t create my own proportions problem.
Extension Question
If a jogger jogs from point A at a constant speed of 6 mph for 8 miles, takes a break for 2 hours, then jogs at a constant speed of 6 mph for another 3 hours to get to point B how long does it take them to get to point A to point B.
